Brooms Up! - You're Welcome

A few months back one of my colleagues posted a link a thirty minute documentary on Quidditch, its participants and the World Cup they are all striving to win.  Words cannot adequately express how awesome following their progress is, or the smile that refused to budge from my face as I watched it.  It's worth it for the seeker footage alone.

Why all misogynistic?

I am a proud supporter of Anita Sarkeesian's Feminist Frequency site and videos that examine tropes in gaming.  When she was the recipient of mass online harassment earlier in the year for daring to launch a Kickstarter campaign to raise funds to produce more videos exploring the depiction of females, I happily handed money over.

Last week Sarkeesian spoke as part of the TEDxWomen talks about the cyber mob, the misogyny in gaming and the support she's received.

You should totally watch this.

Sadly, they've closed the comments on the video.  Why?  It was the target of more coordinated misogynistic cyber mob action - extensive harassment aimed at a strong, articulate woman who continues to speak out against their cruel treatment of their female gaming brethren.  Well done, Anita - keep fighting.

Words cannot describe how disappointed I am that this is continuing.  I am not surprised but I am disappointed.
