FNL Week - Gayle Forman

Gayle Forman (Sisters of Sanity, If I Stay) is a vehement Friday Night Light fan and was the first author I thought to contact with this celebration. She is our last columnist and it's a great way to see out a week of FNL love. (Beware there are some indications of where season 4 is heading which spoils content of previous seasons in the fifth paragraph.)

I don’t like sports. I especially don’t like football. It is the most boring of sports. And I don’t particularly like rednecks. And I really don’t like redneck football culture. So, a television show about football players at a Texas high school, on the surface, as appealing to me as oral surgery.

FNL Week - Korianne from Korianne Speaks

Korianne is one of the newbies that has found FNL through the wonders of the YA blogosphere. Here are her thoughts on the show....

Hello Snarkateers! It's Korianne here from Korianne Speaks! I am a FNL newbie but that does in no way mean I love it less than the hardcore fans! I started watching FNL on a dare from Jordyn earlier this year. She sent me Season 1 on DVD and I gobbled it up. That's sort of an odd thing for me. I have a hard time watching TV shows usually. Don't get me wrong, I like my TV, but I just can't do schedules. So I had seen previews of FNL a few years back but never thought I would watch it much less like it.

FNL Week - Felcity V.

Felicity V. is an individual that I have been lucky enough to meet through blogging. She's not a blogger, instead she's a publicist for an Australian prublisher. She was the lovely lady that escorted Richelle Mead around our fair country a few months back and is my pop culture twin. I am not kidding, I have never had a discussion where someone automatically knew all my references and visa versa...we've clearly spent too much time watching television. One of our favourite things to gush over is FNL and here's why Floss loves it so much...

Friday Night Lights – A Tribute

So you consider yourself TV cool right? You’re a Veronica Mars fan, maybe you’ve pledged eternal love to the West Wing. Joss Whedon can do no wrong and you’ve got a soft spot for Dawson’s Creek, because any show that brings Joshua Jackson’s talents to the world has to be okay (despite James Van Der Beek). Well, as you’ve seen all week, there is a dedicated, loyal, and quite literary fan-base for a little show that could, Friday Night Lights.

FNL Week - Adele the Persnickety Snark

And now you have to hear from me...

My journey to Friday Night Lights was an interesting one. It is one that began with a lovely show with cult-like status in the YA community – a show about a pixie sized blonde detective with snarky sensibility and a tongue like a razor....a little piece of heaven called Veronica Mars.

FNL Week - Kaz Mahoney

Karen Mahoney (Eternal Kiss, The Iron Witch) is the first non-American YA author to contribute to FNL Week. Kaz is a delightful soul who was easily coerced (two weeks of nagging) to watch FNL and I loved reading her reaction to the Pilot.

And here's the fantastic Karen and her thoughts on FNL...

With a Little Help from My Friends

It is a truth universally acknowledged, that a single girl in possession of a DVD player must be in want of a new TV show to watch.

FNL Week - Elizabeth Scott

I have always imagine that Elizabeth Scott (Something Maybe, Love You Miss You Hate You) chortles...maybe chuckles and that's largely in part to the photo on left. She screams joy and laughter to me and having had the pleasure of emailing with her on the odd occasion, I know that I was right on the money (but still waiting on that chortle theory). Elizabeth is a big FNL fan too and shares her reasons for loving it so dearly...

I confess to watching a lot of television but there are very few shows I feel I *must* watch. Friday Night Lights is one of them. It's had me hooked since the first season, and I'm thrilled the show is coming back for its fourth (thank you DirectTV and NBC!)

FNL Week - Trish Doller

Trish Doller (My Way or the Highway) is an author that I have come to know and love via the wonders (and time sucking distractions) of Twitter. She was one of the first to give FNL a go during Persnickety Snark's FNL Week and here's her reaction to watching the series...

FNL Week - Jordyn from Ten Cent Notes

There are only a handful of Friday Night Lights-loving fans within the YA Twitter community and Jordyn is one of the more vocal. We have been known to have neverending twitter conversations about how freaking awesome it really is. Here's Jordyn to tell you why teens should be watching it.

Oh, Friday Night Lights. If you haven't seen this show yet, I don't even want to speak to you until you give it a try. And if you've given it a try and you don't like it, well... shame. on. you.

FNL Week - Sarah Dessen

If you are a reader of YA and you don't know who Sarah Dessen is then I am embarrassed for you. Dessen has written nine books that have delved into the dysfunctional families, boy dilemmas and the strength of friendship...she's one talented lady.

A talented lady with awesome taste, she LOVES FNL so much that she owns a Dillon Panthers t-shirt. Here's her take on the show ...

FNL Week - Meg Cabot

I took a chance... I dropped Meg Cabot an email, knowing that she LOVES Friday Night Lights. I asked whether she would she be interested in writing something (anything) about this show we both adore. She said yes...within a day! That's how truly awesome this woman is.

For those of you uninitiated into Cabot-freaking-goodness, Meg Cabot has written over fifty chicklit (Every Boy's Got One's my fave) and YA titles with two that have been made into movies - a little franchise called The Princess Diaries.

Take it away Meg....

FNL Week - Chelsea Handler

Chelsea Handler is a huge supporter of Friday Night Lights and last year she made this statement on the show.

FNL Week - The Characters

We've had the fantastic authors Melissa Walker (Violet on the Runway) and Lisa Schroeder (Chasing Brooklyn) give their thoughts on what makes FNL the best show ever...and why you should jump aboard the train. I've given you a quick rundown about the show itself but here's a look at each of the characters with NO SPOILERS for any of the three seasons.

FNL Week - Lisa Schroeder

Today Lisa Schroeder, author of Chasing Brooklyn (January, 2010), Far From You and I Heart You, You Haunt Me has kindly dropped by to tell us the reasons she adores FNL.

Dear Readers of the Persnickety Snark Blog,

I’m here guest blogging to share with you why I love Friday Night Lights so much. If I can even put it into words.

I’m going to take a step back for a minute, though, and tell you what I think makes a good story.

A good story has heart. That is, a good story connects with you deep inside, so when you are finished, you are changed, for the better.
