I was playing around on youtube out of sheer boredom and came across Katie Gavin's cover of Willow Smith's Whip My Hair. I was instantly smitten. This seventeen year old singer/songwriter also has some fantastic originals. I am totally digging her song lyrics.
Yay for teen artistry.
Now onto some hair whippage -

Review - Graffiti Moon / Cath Crowley
"Let me make it in time. Let me meet Shadow. The guy who paints in the dark. Paints birds trapped on brick walls and people lost in ghost forests. Paints guys with grass growing from their hearts and girls with buzzing lawn mowers."
It’s the end of Year 12. Lucy’s looking for Shadow, the graffiti artist everyone talks about.
His work is all over the city, but he is nowhere.
Ed, the last guy she wants to see at the moment, says he knows where to find him. He takes Lucy on an all-night search to places where Shadow’s thoughts about heartbreak and escape echo around the city walls.
But the one thing Lucy can’t see is the one thing that’s right before her eyes. Goodreads.
Review - Graffiti Moon is the literary equivalent of dipping your toe into a still pond at midnight. As you watch the ripples chase their way into nothingness, you can't help but take in the beauty...and wonder what is occurring beneath the surface. It is the sheer talent of Crowley and her melodic string of words that make a night in the city breathtakingly magical and oh so real.

Graffiti Moon (Cath Crowley) Art Gallery
What I know about art can fit in a thimble. It's an area that I am slowly learning more about as I come to accept that I am completely devoid of artistic ability. I was an immediately fan of Cath Crowley's work upon reading A Little Wanting Song and found myself beyond eager to read her follow up title, Graffiti Moon. It's a smashing story that left me with a need to know the art mentioned in its pages. Hence this post on the many works of art that are discussed or mentioned in the title.
Review - Sing Me To Sleep / Angela Morrison
THE TRANSFORMATION
Beth has always been “The Beast”—that’s what everyone at school calls her because of her awkward height, facial scars, and thick glasses. Beth’s only friend is geeky, golden-haired Scott. That is, until she’s selected to be her choir’s soprano soloist, and receives the makeover that will change her life forever.
THE LOVE AFFAIR
When Beth’s choir travels to Switzerland, she meets Derek: pale, brooding, totally dreamy. Derek’s untethered passion—for music, and for Beth—leaves her breathless. Because in Derek’s eyes? She’s not The Beast, she’s The Beauty.
THE IMPOSSIBLE CHOICE
When Beth comes home, Scott, her best friend in the world, makes a confession that leaves her completely torn. Should she stand by sweet, steady Scott or follow the dangerous, intense new feelings she has for Derek?
THE HEARTBREAK
The closer Beth gets to Derek, the further away he seems. Then Beth discovers that Derek’s been hiding a dark secret from her …one that could shatter everything. Goodreads.
Review - I understood from the beginning what the author was trying to achieve with her good intentions and personal connections with this journey. And I am sympathetic. Unfortunately that didn't prevent me from feeling emotionally manipulated and angry. There was a complete lack of subtlety in her storytelling that robbed me of any genuine attachment to the characters.

The Actual ARCs Tower...not kidding
In my hometown of Shizuoka, Japan there is a building. A building that we have in our own rooms or offices, except this one isn't made of books!
