Official Long Trailer: Tomorrow When the War Began

Thursday, 17 June 2010 | |

Albeit a little fuzzy around the edges, here's the trailer for the movie adaptation of John Marsden's Tomorrow, When the War Began. I am totally digging the trailer and it pretty much seems to be running true to the book. I am impressed.

Opening on Australian shores September 2nd, I am pretty confident that it will pull in some numbers opening week. Every kid I know read at least the first book in this series at some point. For those of you not of the Australian persuasion, TWWB is a book that details the adventures of a group of country teens battling against a foreign army that has invaded Australia.

Some Americans might be thinking....sounds like Red Dawn. There are similarities but I feel confident that this book adaptation will allow the series to break away from that comparison.

Also....I LOVE Homer...always have, always will. Best Australian-Greek YA boy ever~

I agree this trailer is so good. And it's been running in Australian cinemas for about a month now! Whoo Hoo! Aaaand, tomorrow when the war began was in the top 5 best seller charts a few weeks back - gets me so excited. My fave YA series brought to life :)

Agreeing about Homer. Definitely my fave boy of the series. He reads just like a real person :) Actually, all the characters do...

I'm an American and very recently got my hands on a copy of the first book. I loved it! It was a little harder getting the next few books, and some of the later ones are impossible to get here without paying an arm and a leg. I've had to buy them all used and I'm hoping the release of this movie will inspire a reprint at least here in the U.S. so I don't have to pay $40 for book 6 or whatever the current price is.

I very much look forward to the movie coming here as well.
