Stop #1 - Where She Went Teaser Tour

It's an absolute honour to be the opening leg of the Where She Went teaser tour. If I Stay was among the first titles that were reviewed here on Persnickety Snark and it had a big impact on the blog and myself. By visiting each of the ten blog stops (as detailed below) you will read a new curiosity burning teaser about this new title.

And on with the teasing...

Attention If I Stay fans:
You know what Mia and Adam went through after the Hall family’s accident, but have you ever wondered what happened after? Well the wait is almost over—New York Times bestselling author Gayle Forman has written a sequel to If I Stay. It’s called Where She Went, and it comes out April 2011, but right now she’s doing a teaser tour to give If I Stay fans the scoop on what they can expect from Mia and Adam’s new chapter.

Teaser Number 1:
It’s a sequel—but not. This is definitely a continuation of the Adam-Mia story, but it’s also a brand-new story, Adam’s own story. Some people who’ve read the book have responded by saying: “It’s not a sequel at all! It’s a totally new work.” Which makes me happy because I have misgivings about sequels (unless they’re part of a series).

One other thing you might’ve deduced from the above blurbette is that you learn other people’s names and last names in this book. For instance, Mia’s last name is Hall. Adam’s last name is Wilde. And Mia’s parents are/were named Kat and Denny. Oh, look, I gave four things away. Well, I wanted to start with a bang.

Aren't you just dying to get your hands on it already?

Having been lucky enough to read Where She Went I can tell you that I cried. Getting me to cry these days is like drawing blood from a stone...it doesn't happen. Prepare to be hit with some Forman awesomeness.

First comment! OMG so lucky, you've got a copy of Where She Went! If I Stay is my favourite book to date, so I'm super-psyched to read the non-sequel. :P I love books that make people cry-- you know a book is good when someone gets so emotionally invested in the story!!

I can't wait for more teasing. I don't think I can wait until April 2011 to read it! >_<

I've read WSW but I don't own a copy. Believe me it will be worth the wait :)

see, the only real issue i was having with "If I Stay" was its shortness. Problem solved! I'm really happy that Ms. Forman decided to give us another look at Mia and Adam. And how about the lack of names! I hadn't even noticed that.

A friend loaned me her copy of If I Stay and I read it in less than 12 hours. Such a great story. I'm excited that a sequel is coming out.

I think a good song to represent Adam would be Ready or Not by The Wipers, a classic punk rock band from Portland. Adam was the one who found a way to connect her back with living, who made her want to stay. Here are some of the lyrics from the song:

Do you believe in magic?
Do you believe in fate...
Besides my beating heart
Or does it even matter, child?

Oh, ready or not, it's ready to roll
Ready or not, don't let me go

Okay I'll admit that this is a rather hard question for me because I am not a music nut and 85% of what I listen to is from the radio. I do have a song titled "Garden of Everything" by Steve Conte and Maaya Sakamoto.

Rather than Adam per se, it's more of a Adam and Mia song (it's a ballad, I know I know, stretching things a bit). Some random stanzas:

Here you are
Daylight Star
Made out of miracles

Perfection of your own
You alone
Oh, so incredible

Each atom sings to me
Set me free
From chains of the physical
Oh, free me...
Oh, free me...

------

Where memories call to me
Backward dreams
Or phantom reality
Call to me...
They call to me...

------

A small boat, there will float
To far off coasts
The Isle of Infinity

Come with me...Come with me...
Come with me...

Here we'll see
Love's lost tree
Made out of miracles

It is a separation and a coming together with a slight bit of haunting. Oh and look...there's a boat analogy ;) It's not sinking, but it's lost. Sort of like their relationship. I'm babbling at this point.

When I think of Adam and Mia...at least from If I stay...I think of The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus song Your Guardian Angel. Its a love song about a guy who would do anything to help the girl and I feel it fits Adam perfectly.
Here are some Verses:

When I see your smile
Tears roll down my face I can't replace
And now that I'm strong I have figured out
How this world turns cold and it breaks through my soul
And I know I'll find deep inside me I can be the one

I will never let you fall (let you fall)
I'll stand up with you forever
I'll be there for you through it all (through it all)
Even if saving you sends me to heaven

So awesome! I had no idea that Where She Went was going to be from Adam's pov, now I'm even more anxious to read it! =)
