Here are some of the reasons I love it here -
Mt Fuji...is remarkably close to where I live. Two hours of car time and I am there breathing in its awesomeness. I have been twice and as you can see my photo taking ability has really improved in the six months in between.

The Food
I came to Japan not really digging seafood all that much but I've come to realise that it is all about the quality. the small shrimp you can see are a specialty in my region.
A dish from a Japanese wedding that I was honoured to attend.
But I am also jumping aboard the oden train - the brown stewed potatoes and eggs are the special oden recipe for my region as well. It looks gross but tastes delish!
The Flora
I've never been a plant and flower person but I have done a giant 180. The plant life here is simply spectacular.

Water
It is everywhere and being from Australia means I am REALLY not used to that. I love hearing the trickling water and even the rainy season.

My Village
It's sweetness incarnate and oh so very pretty.
Of course there is also the people and my students but they are entitled to their privacy and as such won't be posted. Japan is a wonderful place and I hope you've enjoyed seeing a little of it :)

I'm super jealous that you've gotten to spend so much time in Japan. It's a dream of mine to go there some day.

Wow those pictures are awesome. So pretty no wonder you like it.
HellOOO I wouldn't be a fan of Australian flora if I thought some deadly snake or spider was going to jump out of it and EAT/KILL ME, either.
Thank you for sharing these pics. It's a dream of mine to visit Japan one day, and looking at these makes me dream just that much harder.
Love these! Thanks for sharing!
Oh my goodness I love this post! Thank you for sharing this with your followers.
Beautiful pics - I especially liked the last one of Mt Fuji and the one of the men fishing
I've always wanted to go to Japan -- especially since my CP/fellow FNC-er Janine lived and taught there for a couple years -- and this makes me want to go even more!
Funny enough, I was as entranced by Australia when I studied abroad as you are with Japan!
Oh, how wonderful. I loved Japan--and the fact that Mount Fuji looms large wherever you are :)
So lovely! I love traveling vicariously through other bloggers. I would love to see Mt. Fuji someday -- just stunning. Thanks for sharing!
How gorgeous! When I think of Japan, I always think of cities, but these nature shots are beautiful.
Japanese wedding? Do tell! :-)
I am encouraging you all to pack your bags and head to Japan for a visit. It truly is a beautiful place filled with lovely people.
Tez - my Aussie colleague married a local and I was invited to their wedding. Loads of tradition, awesome food and a ninja fighting a robot...very interesting and somewhat peculiar.
Gorgeous pictures, traveling is one of my favorite things to do. If only I had time to do more of it.
