I love Meg Cabot's work - MG, YA or chicklit, she's a lady who knows what she's doing. I was tremendously excited about the TV film adaptation of Avalon High ...until today.
It just looks....bad and even more Disneyfied than even I could imagine. The dialogue is shoddy, the acting is tepid and the direction looks horrific. They lost me when they morphed the football players into knights - like the team name wasn't a heavy enough illusion! Ugh.

I haven't even read Avalon High yet and I'm flinching... I don't know if I'll watch it. I like Molly Quinn and Mason from Wizards of Waverly Place is on it and he's haaaawt... but I don't know.
Wow. Looks like they're going for an audience of 8-10 year olds. Looks nice and safe. Not like the Avalon High I read. Even the swords look safe.
Hmm. The promos were just awful. Sad, because I was looking forward to this when I heard it was going to be made into a movie. Was hoping Molly Quinn would be in it more, too. Doesn't look like she is.
It's on TV so I'll probably catch it at some point.
So. Yep. I am totally convinced about the whole camelot-reincarnated thing.
Tooootally convinced.
(The books weren't bad - always enjoy a good Meg Cabot - but this makes them look terrible :S)
To me? It looks like a decent movie for younger kids, but can't be called Avalon High. I was excited out of my mind when I heard it was a movie, but really. It's Disney Channel. I shouldn't even be surprised. I don't know why they took it up!
