As some of you are aware I am teaching in Japan this year. I've just entered my tenth month of living in a country where I didn't speak the language, knew little about the culture and its people. Two of those three things has changed. (Hint - I am an awesome pointer.)
For those of you that haven't seen a slice of my life....here's a gander.

| I've also learned to fear bugs (after living my whole life in Australia - capital of deadly bugs). |
So that's what I have been doing here in glorious Japan.
It's been amazing. I left Australia having never stepped off its shores and I have never really looked back. Taking risks, making big life changes are sometimes a great thing to do. I love Japan.
That being said, I'd like to forget this ever happened...

Wow 10 months, the time is sure flying by right? What a wonderful post. And that bug, looks really pretty serious in his business of hurting people! And I don't think that baby octopus could ever get inside my mouth!

Aahh, I'm so jealous. I've always wanted to go to Japan. :) These pictures are beautiful (except that bug, which is absolutely terrifying.)

I never took a liking to okonomiyaki, which I called okonomiyuki (lolz).

Woah...is that bug a mukade? I heard about those but never saw during my time in Japan (luckily!)

My Dad went to Tokyo and he really liked it! I'd love to visit Japan one day! Great picture....ugh octopus...*shudders* and what a creepy bug!

Did my year there in 1989 and boy was it a closed shop to foreigners then. But the Scottish girl met the Aussie boy and he followed me back to Scotland eventually. We married in Scotland in 1991 with the agreement that we would live in Australia. On April 13 2011 we will have notched up 20 years. And you know the story of how I started writing for teens etc...
I've followed your posts with interest all year. Never can you feel more more isolated and more treasured within the hour than in Japan.
I think you're ready to come home now but you'll never get Japan out of your soul.

Ahh this is gorgeous and makes me miss Japan. I'm Japanese but I haven't been back in 10 years or so due to school and all that, but seeing these pictures made me happy! :) So thank you.
ACK! What is that bug? Seriously, I would never make it in Japan.
