Friday Night Lights - Season 5 (Video)

A year ago I was in a bit of a state. My favourite television show, Friday Night Lights, wasn't being watched by enough bloggers (or anyone else really). Season four was about to start and no one really cared.  Despite a small (but exceedingly loyal) audience the show managed to creep in an additional two seasons to round out the series. After season five finished ... the show would be over.

I wanted to shout about it from the rooftops.

Instead, I decided to celebrate the show by having fans (eg authors, bloggers) write about why they loved the show.  I was exceedingly lucky as people agreed to share their thoughts.  People I never dreamed would have the time - Meg Cabot, Sarah Dessen, etc  As a result more people gave the show a chance. And love grew.  We love well constructed reflections of teen life in the YA blogdom and that is FNL.

On October 27th (Direct TV) the final season of my beloved show begins.  That's only thirteen more episodes of Coach and Mrs Taylor, the ragtag East Dillon Lions and the awesomeness that is Julie Taylor.  While there is always talk about Riggins and Saracen - my favourites are the Taylor family.  I love them.  They are real as far as I am concerned.

If you have time, or you haven't met the Taylor family...read the posts and get enthused.  You will thank me.  You will post about this show and how much you love Landry's band, Matt's kindness towards his grandmother and how much you want to wash Riggins' hair.  You will fall in love.

Remember - it is not all about football.  It's about real people with real problems.

And now, here's the season 5 promo -

Here's the interview that Kyle Chandler (Coach Eric Taylor) had with Diablo Cody which depicts his love of the show, the actors, Connie Britton and how darned charming he can be.  I watch this repeatedly.

However please be aware that there is inappropriate language used and you might not find this to your taste.

I am so sad yet so pumped to see this season. I read an article a while back saying Tara was supposed to come back? As much as I loved watching that promo my first thought was: Where is my Riggins?!

Best show ever. Sadly, I don't have directTV, so I have to watch it online... :(

I'm a big FNL's fan too.
After the end of last season and hearing the show would end I was hoping for a spin-off of Tim after prison with many of the characters from the original still showing up.

Okay, Kyle Chandler is my new TV husband. He is charming times 10.

Can't wait for Oct. 27th. I'm going to miss this show something crazy, but I'm glad that we all know up front that this is the last season. I have a lot of faith that the writers will do right by all of the characters. As long as I know that Tim Riggins ends up okay and happy, I'll be satisfied.

I don't know how it is possible but Kyle Chandler is even more good looking in this interview than he is on the show. Sigh. Lucky, lucky Connie!

Okay, if it's even possible, my love for Kyle Chandler had expanded by a million. Seriously, that man could charm me into anything (or out of anything - it's funny!).

And Diablo's right, he was cool on Grey's Anatomy. I can't WAIT for the return.

Just caught up with all this FNL loving. I adore this show and am constantly trying to win people over with it but I always get 'Football sucks. Not interested. I don't like American football. I don't even like Australian football.' !!?? No! I was completely won over by the second episode. Such great acting, characters, and authentic emotion. Am deliriously waiting the Aus. Season 3 dvd.
